DESCRIPTION
Elements of Action (from score to subscore) is an advanced training course for performers (actors and dancers) to devise physical and vocal materials through use of external stimuli’s i.e. objects and create sequences of action. These sequences (scores) will be the basis for improvisation through which the participants will explore and discover the personal and inner aspect of the action (subscore).
The question is how to give life to the movement, how to let voice to fly? In Stanislavski’s words, how “to access the subconscious through the conscious?” In this three-day workshop Vahid, director of Goossun Art-illery shares his experiences and together with participants explores further possibilities.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION

The Street Arts Camp & Festival
The Street Arts Camp & Festival project is a new initiative by Among the Ants company, based in Athens and Larnaca (Cyprus); The idea for the street arts camp, addressed to professional and emerging artists, both European and international, aims to act as a platform where artists participate in a range of workshops, classes and artistic activities.
The Camp aims to become a genuine opportunity for performers from all over the world to develop their knowledge, skills and talent. The team of Among the Ants will provide guidance and support to help ensure the organizational aspects of the project, and offer a creative and inspiring experience for all the attendees.
The structure of the project: It is residential, intensive and a demanding programme, which combines educational and artistic components.
The Street Arts Camp is a place where professional artists will be invited to lead workshops and master-classes and challenged to train young performers at the beginning of their careers. All classes will have a strong educational and skill-development context while the participants will be trained, rehearse and practice the techniques and methods of street arts.
Except the group work all participants will have time to do individual work and create materials. Among the Ants through the Street Arts Camp aims to offer high quality of workshops for artists who wish to be trained in a short period of time in various art disciplines related to street arts. The Street Arts Camp will be a meeting point for young, emerging and professional artists to meet, exchange knowledge, skills and artistic ideas.
At the end of the Camp, we are planning Khaki Kite, a 2-day Festival of street arts. With Khaki Kite our ambition is to create the 1st Street Arts Festival in Cyprus welcoming international, European and Cypriot performances and artists. We wish to offer to the audience a festive atmosphere, a celebration of street arts, and at the same time create a platform for street artists to come together, collaborate, experiment, explore, travel…
“When Art unfolds outside walls”
The non-for-profit organization Among the Ants in collaboration with the French Institute of Athens is organizing a one-day conference on outdoor arts, street theatre and contemporary circus. The event will take place in the French Institute’s Auditorium, on Monday June 7th.
The conference aims to open a dialogue among French and Greek cultural institutions, artists, public bodies and European networks. Collaborative initiatives not only act to the advantage of the street arts sector in a European level but, through particular cross-culture projects as this one, to the benefit of the Greek and French artistic communities in particular.
More specifically, the event includes a public talk of Elena Dapporto, (Circus & Street Arts Officer, French Ministry of Culture) presenting the contemporary French national activities on street theatre, and Yohann Floch (Coordinator, Circostrada Network and International Relations Officer, Hors Les Murs) who will present the potentials for the development of long-term collaborations between French, European and Greek artists.
Moreover, a representative from the Greek Ministry of Culture, Greek street theatre groups and individual artists will present the outdoor arts sector as it is currently being shaped in Greece, and discuss the potential, risks and needs that exist, in terms of collaborations, artistic mobility, funding, public support and audience development.
Among the Ants aims to publish an in-depth, evaluation report based on the issues raised and discussed during the conference. We consider this process as the most valuable element of the whole project: by exploring arts in public space, we hope to bring outdoor arts to the centre of future cross-border collaborations between Greece, France and other European countries for the benefit of artistic mobility and cultural exchange.
