An important area of interest is the co-operation with long established European street festivals, associations and individual artists, which enhance the company’s vision. Among the Ants creates the necessary link between Greek and international cultural initiatives regarding urban and street art projects.

Penelope: Dust in our awakened dreams, Athanasia Kanellopoulou & rubberbodies collective

Among the Ants collaborates with Athanasia Kanellopoulou (Greece) and the rubberbodies collective (Malta) for the touring of Penelope: Dust in our awakened dreams.

Penelope: Dust in our awakened dreams is a solo dance theatre performance, Penelope: Dust in our awakened dreams, a collaboration between Athanasia Kanellopoulou and the rubberbodies collective. A story about a female figure waiting in a world that lies between tragedy and fairytale.

She faces her own tragedy, a journey through the past and the present, where the restless memories are brought forward, beauty collapses and hope lights the way.

Greek contemporary dancer Athanasia Kanellopoulou has been collaborating with the local multi-disciplinary art collective Rubberbodies since last year.

Collaboration with Goossun Art-illery

Among the Ants, since August 2010 collaborates with Goossun Art-illery arts organization based in London and Copenhagen. Goossun Art-illery is an independent culture and arts organization that aims at rendering concrete changes in life by empowering individuals through art and culture. Our collaboration includes the performance project and a series of workshops in the Nordic Countries. The first of these workshops will take place in Sweden in May 2012.

Goossun Art-illery joins forces with Dansbyrån, Association of Independent Theatre in Iceland, Tjarnarbio and Among the Ants to organize a series of workshops in the Nordic countries.

Collaboration with the French Institute Athens

Among the Ants in collaboration with the French Institute of Athens organized a one-day conference on outdoor arts, street theatre and contemporary circus. The event took place in the French Institute’s Auditorium, on Monday June 7th 2010.

The conference aimed at opening a dialogue among French and Greek cultural institutions, artists, public bodies and European street art networks. With this collaborative initiative Among the Ants wished to highlight the necessity of promoting the street arts sector Greece through European and cross-culture projects.

“When art Unfolds Outside Walls” included a public talk by Elena Dapporto, (Circus & Street Arts Officer, French Ministry of Culture) presenting the contemporary French national activities on street theatre, and Yohann Floch (Coordinator, Circostrada Network and International Relations Officer, Hors Les Murs).

The Greek cultural sector was represented by the Greek Ministry of Culture, Greek street theatre groups and individual artists that presented the outdoor arts sector as it is currently being shaped in Greece.
